“For the tigers we must unite, so they don’t fade out of sight!”
This photo is of the then-unnamed sub-adult male offspring of the formidable tigress, Maya, that ruled the watering hole region of the Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve, Maharashtra.
The tiger fixes his piercing gaze on me as the sounds of my camera stand out against the ambient birdsong of the central Indian jungle.
This tiger and his brother, both sub-adults when we met them, had displayed an unusual bond and despite being on the cusp of adulthood continued to roam the forest together.
