MOSQUITO REPELLANT RING

A novel 3D printed wearable ring has been developed to keep mosquitoes at bay. Incorporated with insect repellent ‘IR3535’, a biodegradable polymer has been shaped into the form of a ring using 3D printing. The fundamental tenet for this form of insect repellent is that constant evaporation of the insect repellent creates an insect barrier.  Numerous trials and models have suggested that used in the ring form, the insect repellent works effectively for almost a week. Although more study is needed for effectivity in real life situations, the findings have been published in the International Journal of Pharmaceuticals.
