 Background and Career:

Hailing from Burripalem village in Guntur district, Dr. Pemmasani completed his MBBS from Osmania Medical College in Hyderabad in 1999. He then moved to the United States for further studies, earning an M.D. in internal medicine from Geisinger Medical Centre in Pennsylvania in 2005. His distinguished career includes serving as a faculty member at Johns Hopkins University and practicing as a physician.

 Business Ventures and Philanthropy:

In the United States, Dr. Pemmasani founded UWorld, a company that provides online training courses in various professional fields, including medical education, nursing, and pharmacy. The success of UWorld significantly contributed to his wealth. Beyond his business ventures, Dr. Pemmasani has been active in philanthropy. He launched a non-profit NGO to support underprivileged students pursuing higher education in the U.S. and founded the Pemmasani Foundation, which organizes health camps and provides essential services in rural areas of Andhra Pradesh.

Assets:

Dr. Pemmasani’s assets include substantial investments in publicly listed companies in the U.S., luxury vehicles such as two Mercedes Benz, a Tesla Model X, and a Rolls Royce Ghost, and significant real estate holdings. Collectively, his family’s assets are worth several thousand crores.

Political Contest:

Dr. Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani faces intense competition for the Guntur Lok Sabha seat from YSRCP’s Kilari Venkata Rosaiah, the sitting MLA from Ponnur. The previous elections saw a narrow victory for TDP’s Galla Jayadev over YSRCP’s M. Venugopal Reddy by a slim margin of 4,205 votes. This tight race highlights the fierce political rivalry in the region as both parties vie for dominance.
