The pandemic just doesn’t seem to end even as we are closing in on the half-year mark for 2021. As India spiral heads towards the steeper, more dangerous second wave, there are a host of different symptoms that patients are presenting with. So far, we were aware of the common cold, fever, sore throat and loss of smell and taste symptoms. However, thanks to the ever-mutating virus, the symptoms of the covid19 disease have changed in the past few weeks.
Fever, cough and loss of taste and smell continue to be the classic signs of the disease but the highly infectious strains of the mutated virus are causing symptoms like pink eyes or conjunctivitis, impaired hearing, gastrointestinal conditions, extreme weakness and fatigue.
Other less common symptoms of covid-19 include myalgia, lethargy, joint pains and loss of appetite. the concoction of mutated, infective strains, complacency among people, crumbling health infrastructure, shortage of vaccines, and a clueless government are plunging the world’s largest democracy towards doom. Will India be able to flatten the covid-19 curve this around like its first?
