World Record for Largest Number of Health Facilities in a Day!

The Arvind Kejriwal-led AAP government created history by opening the largest number of healthcare facilities in a day amounting to 152 mohalla clinics.

With the Delhi elections nearing, the current Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal spoke of the work done in the past tenure of his government. The initial number of clinics stood at 150 and due to the roadblocks and difficulties, further clinics were unable to open.

But, with the Supreme Court’s nod and easing out the process of establishing new clinics, the Kejriwal-led AAP government were able to expand the total number of mohalla clinics to a total of 450 today. The Chief Minister has set a target of 1000 mohalla clinics in Delhi and wishes to make healthcare accessible to all. Till November 2019, the mohalla clinics have treated 2 crore patients and conducted over 18 lakh tests.

With the crippling government healthcare systems across the country, it is no surprise that the people have lost trust in government health establishments. However, with the efforts of the Delhi government, who has set up not just primary healthcare facilities like the mohalla clinics but also increased the number of beds in government-run hospitals, the people of Delhi have a new-found trust in these health establishments.

It will be interesting to see whether the other state governments take on a task like the AAP government in the field of healthcare to make primary healthcare accessible to the population at large.
